Introduction: Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an essential security feature that adds an additional layer of protection to your O365 account. By requiring you to provide two or more verification factors, such as a password and a mobile device, MFA helps to prevent unauthorized access to your account. In this knowledge base article, we will explain how to install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device to enable MFA for your O365 account.

Step 1: Download the Microsoft Authenticator App The first step in enabling MFA for your O365 account is to download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device. The app is available for both iOS and Android devices, and you can download it for free from the App Store or Google Play Store. If you would like to search for yourself, below is the correct icon: 

Step 2: Add Your Account to the Microsoft Authenticator App

Once you have downloaded and installed the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device, you will need to add your O365 account to the app. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device.
2. Tap the Add Account button.
3. Select Work or school account.
4. Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code displayed on the screen, or manually enter the code provided.

Step 3: Enable MFA for Your O365 Account

Now that you have added your O365 account to the Microsoft Authenticator app, you can enable MFA for your account. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Log in to your O365 account using your username and password.
2. When prompted, select the option to set up multi-factor authentication.
3. Follow the prompts to set up MFA using the Microsoft Authenticator app as your preferred method.
4. Verify your account by entering the code provided by the Microsoft Authenticator app when prompted.

Once you have completed these steps, MFA will be enabled for your O365 account, and you will be required to provide an additional verification factor, such as a code from the Microsoft Authenticator app, when logging in to your account.
